The main components of the SCADA
system
Sensors and actuators
Sensors are used to collect data about the physical parameters and conditions of equipment, while actuators allow for the remote control of processes and(or) systems.
Data acquisition devices (RTU/PLC)
Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) or Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) are used to collect data from sensors and manage actuators. They act as an interface between physical devices and the SCADA system.
Database
SCADA’s database is used to store and archive the collected data, historical records, and system configuration settings.
SCADA server
The server is a central element in SCADA system development. It collects data from the RTU/PLC devices, processes it, and provides an interface for the operator to monitor and manage processes.
